This is one of those songs that if you find yourself listening to constantly, shit is probably a little fucked in your life. (This isn’t me, although I have to say that the message of the song is something that’s slooooowlyyyy sinking in as I work on being a grownup).
It’s a great, simple song, though. Plus, Aimee Mann is hot.
Plus, Aimee Mann is hot.
QFT. Amen.
It’s appalling how Ms. Mann is largely seen as a “one hit wonder” because she had a big hit with ‘Til Tuesday. She’s classy and wise, as well as hot.
B^4, I know. And even without ‘Til Tuesday, she’s not really a one-hit wonder, imho. It’s like saying that Elliot Smith was a one-hit wonder because of Miss Misery.
One-hit wonder? Who says? Nothing is good enough for people like that. They have to have someone take the fall. They need something to sabotage; they’re determined to lose it all.
I never heard that “one-hit wonder” about her. But then, I don’t get out much. I adore her. Her voice is strange. Her lyrics are often brilliant. And she looks smart and beautiful.
It’s a great, simple song, though.
All her songs are. Intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-outro. Classic pop structure. Also too, chorus means four sets of two bar phrases or possibly something as wildly different as two sets of four bar phrases. Intro and outro are four bars.
Plus, Aimee Mann is hot.
Hmm. Vaguely troubling.
Also, hot.
Larkspur, that would make a great song:
Nothing is good enough for people like that.
They have to have someone take the fall.
They need something to sabotage;
they’re determined to lose it all.
Thank you for noticin’, BBBB.
Also? Loved your weekend report on the visit with the giant babby.
